[UPDATE: 10:50 AM ET, added “Mac mini” to opening sentence]
Thats what I like to hear.
More mac users = Fewer windows users
Armageddon shall be avoided
Wow. 6 slots in the top 10 going to Apple.
Not too shabby.
Put two MacMinies together and get a computer cluster for cheap…
“Amazon’s list of their most popular desktop computers shows Apple’s iMac G5 models as the top three best sellers.”
Err… the Mac mini is a G4, right???
Just don’t stack your miniMacs
want a good laugh? check out #6, the Sony Vaio…
“The VAIO W Series pioneers new territory in desktop PCs. The all-in-one design makes it ideal when space is hard to find…you need look no further than this sleek and very unique machine.”
sounds interesting right? check out the side views (just make sure you’re not drinking anything when you do)
That must be a very scary sight for the Wintel box manufacturers like Dell. Those Mac minis are NOT being sucked up by existing Mac users or computer virgins; it must be mostly switchers.
“Those Mac minis are NOT being sucked up by existing Mac users or computer virgins; it must be mostly switchers.”
And you know this how?
Only of the top two CPUs have intel chips; Looks like AMD is taking a bite out of that market, too.
Side note: My mac laptop was recommended to me by a guy who works at AMD. Interesting, huh?
king_alvarez: That has to be the funniest thing I’ve seen. The front view looks great. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THAT MESS BEHIND THE SCREEN!! >.< Egads, can they try any harder to fool people? “The all-in-one design makes it ideal when space is hard to find”, however it still has a 12″x15″ footprint on the desktop…
Who are they kidding?
Brought to you by “needs”. No pun, just informational.
Where do you see the Vaio sides? Amazon only has front pictures….
The vaio looks the same on all four sides: it has four displays. Most often it is places in the center of the dining room table so the homies can compute together.
The back of the Sony:

Bwa-ha-ha-ha. The side view is … geeze … words fail me. Was this designed by a photographer?
That Sony, what a hoot. And Tiger Direct, fraud-laced copy throughout! “At the end of the day, fold up the keyboard and watch TV.”
Now wait, if you fold up the keyboard, you can see about 1/3 of the screen.
Yep, that’s some good TV wachun!
Man…
Sure we can copy apple (from the front anyway). As long as it looks the same from the front, no one will realize it’s still a hulking peice of elctronic garbage. Even their more streamlined Vaio V is HUGE from the profile. That’s just hilarious. Poor poor sony.
HOLY COW! I thought they had people who could think at Sony!? Is Jonathan Ive THE ONLY qualified computer industrial designer in the world? Maybe Apple wouldnt want them as a partner if this is what they come up with!
This story should be retitled “Apple Mac mini, iMac G5 models HELD top three spots in Amazon’s Desktop Computer Top Sellers list”
I see an eMachines as #3, and iMac G5 as #1 and the mini is in #2 and #4. The PowerMac G4/733 is in #8 and there are no PowerMac G5s in the top ten at all.
Seems this list fluctuates quite frequently. No wonder, since they update it every hour…
Magic word: “english” as in “Do you speak English?”
Its now 6 out of the top 10 and 9 out of the top 25.
Hope the production lines are going 24-7.
LOL!!
THAT SONY IS A JOKE!!!
I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED SOOOOOOO MUCH!!
AND THESE GUYS ARE TRYING TO COMPETE WITH APPLE???
MY 4 YEAR OLD SON COULD DESIGN A BETTER COMPUTER THAN THAT!!
LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! – oopps ‘Ive’ spilt my drink!!!
Magic word is ‘south’ – as in that is the only direction Sony is going!!
Let’s not get too excited here – even though it is undeniably great that Apple’s selling loads of hardware via Amazon, don’t forget that the 800-lb Gorilla, Dell, doesn’t sell via Amazon. This is like saying Ford is the biggest car manufacturer in the world – apart from Toyota, of course. (I have no idea what the car rankings are, BTW, so excuse inaccuracies in my ananogy…)
What the heck? When I went to the page, it showed the 733MHz G4 QuickSilver as #10! They don’t still make those, do they?
My little sister in law has one of those. Looks really nice – as long as it is against a wall! It does save space with the flip up keyboard some tho. Which is important in Japan. They are on line to get a Mac for their next computer tho. Got tired of getting virused.
Wow, Macs all over the place in that list. I hope it is indicative of things to come.

Gees man, thanks for the don’t drink anything warning, Dr. Pepper would have been blown all over and ozing through my iBook. I probably would have chocked to dath in the process. You saved my life!
Disaster avoided, ROFLOL accomplished, deeper Apple design appreciation acheived!!
