MacDailyNews Take: Apple’s currently not selling any products on their home page. We guess for Apple, at least, some things are more important that selling things 365 days a year. Bravo!
I’m proud to use a computer from a company that truly cares.
good stuff Apple!
I checked Sony, Microsoft, GM, Ford, Walmart and a few others. Not one ad any mention of the Crisis. Really Classy.
Good for them. Thanks Apple.
and in other news, microsoft’s homepage offers you a chance to “get your party started with windows xp media center edition”. tang and lemon squares for all!
yet another example of Apple Computer, as something much deeper and more relevant than just a computer company.
I saw that on their website this morning. Apple made me proud. The loss of life is almost too much to comprehend.
Thanks Apple!
76,000 was the last count. How sad….
Just made my donations ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”grin” style=”border:0;” />
On the topic of tsunamis and the like, I’m appalled at the damage done and the sheer size of the area affected with casualties as far away as Kenya.
However, the whole thing has reminded me of what was probably the most frightening programme I’ve ever seen on TV, namely an old episode of Horizon on BBC TV dating back to around 2000 or 2001 that outlined the threat to the American continent’s eastern coastline and the Carribean islands in the event of the Cumbre Vieja collapsing on the island of La Palma.

In the meantime, let’s do what we can for people who, through no fault of their own, find themselves facing starvation, disease and homelessness and full marks to Apple for leading – in a corporate context – what is a moral imperative to look after our fellow men.
I thought 4 harricanes here in Florida was bad, but seeing over 80,000+ lives lost in Asia I feel very lucky already. I’m with Apple to pray for the lost…
Apple Canada is happy to be still purveying iPods, iTunes, G4s and G5s.
I made my donation. Thanks Apple. A really noble company and it makes me proud to be a Mac user.
A quick look at Dell’s site revealed nothing relating to the crisis. Apple rules!
If you have an Amazon 1 click account set up, you can go to their home page and donate with the click of a mouse. It’s a _very_ easy way to make a little difference, at least!
I was extremely elated to see this @ 4am in the morning eastern time earlier today. This is another reason we are passionate about this company.
WELL DONE APPLE.
Notably not done by MS or Dell. Apple sets the way. Again.
I have donated on behalf of my family to Concern in the UK. Sadly I could not choose “Apple” as the way I found their site.
M. T. MacPhee,
So is Apple India – so they haven’t got it up on all the pages, give em a break. It’s the thought that counts.
See this breathtaking satellite photo of a tsunami striking Sri Lanka on the morning December 26, 2004. It is a sobering view of the force of nature.

I’m really proud of Apple. Make your donations!
Thanks for the links George. Incomprehensible. Saw some footage on CNN – all the screaming and dead bodies and rushing water. I probably would have died from a heart attack panicking if I were there.
I’ve been a Mac user since day one. Apple has always lead the way and this example should come as no surprise. It should be a point of pride for everyone in the Mac community.
Now go and donate already!
Well done Apple, shame that some of the sites that feed of you (like MDN) couldnt follow your example.
Nokia has given ‘significant’ aid to this diaster. In typical, quiet Finnish style, they don’t even mention it. No showboating, no undercurrents to PR.
That is class.
