Apple releases Power Mac G5 Uniprocessor Firmware Update 5.1.5f2

Apple has released Power Mac G5 Uniprocessor Firmware Update 5.1.5f2. Apple explained the release, “after applying the Power Mac G5 Uniprocessor Firmware Update 5.1.5f1 to some 1.6 GHz computers, unexpected issues might occur. But you can install Firmware Update 5.1.5f2 to fix them. What unexpected issues? It could be a kernel panic, the loss of USB function with some keyboards or mouse tracking devices, Bluetooth USB modules that don’t respond five minutes after starting up, or interrupted audio playback in iTunes. Disconnecting and reconnecting devices does not help. Removing some or all non-Apple memory (RAM) usually stops the issue.”

  1. I think the issue was just that some users experienced an anomaly where a defective G5 chip would emit a peculiar form of electromagnetic radiation that would quickly turn the user into a slack-jawed zombie, willing to do the foul bidding of an evil race of… uh…

    No, wait, that wasn’t it.

  2. Actually the anomaly is that the G5’s reality-distortion field (RDF) might be mediocre, so the update increases the level by at least a factor of ten. Forget those other platforms where resistance is merely futile. ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

As for the new iMac G5, its RDF is already insanely great, so no update should be necessary.
