All eyes on Time Canada on rumored eve of iMac G5 release

“The new iMac G5 is to blame for continued delays in dual-1.8GHz Power Mac G5 shipments. Reliable sources inform Think Secret that virtually all 1.8GHz PowerPC G5 processors that Apple is receiving from IBM are going into new iMac G5 systems, leaving customers looking for the most affordable G5 tower with a bit of a wait,” Ryan Katz reports for ThinkSecret.com. Full article here.

The high-end 20-inch iMac G5 is rumored to pack a single 1.8GHz G5 processor while the rumored 17-inch models will come with a 1.6GHz G5.

All browsers are trained on Time Canada as some parts of The Mac Web collectively theorize that Time magazine has secured the inside rights to iMac prerelease information, while Newsweek seems to get all of the iPod secrets. It’s Time’s turn and the Time Canada Webmaster is sweatin’ bullets right about now. If you think that we will be able to refrain from clicking over to Time Canada (even though we just KNOW it isn’t going to happen again) this evening, you’re sadly mistaken. We’ll be forced to visit at least once or a couple hundred times – we are unable to stop oursleves. wink

  1. “Damned flickering Bush/Kerry ad” killed (will take up to a hour to die, though). Sorry, that one fell through the cracks. Thanks for letting me know. Now, back to Time Canada…

  2. Time Canada, USA, etc. were web published yesterday (Sunday) and distrbuted to newsstands yesterday and today. There is no story about the iMac. None from Newsweek as well. It is simply a matter of logistics since the keynote is on a Tuesday rather then a Monday so there was no chance of a story – less chance of a cover one so soon after the iPod. We’ll know soon enough.

  3. Looped Gordon Lightfoot songs, weak Molson/Coors beer, and pictures of a moose in heat. That should be enough for the webmaster to cough up the pics ” width=”19″ height=”19″ alt=”smile” style=”border:0;” />

  4. Back when the G5’s first came out I wondered if I should wait for Rev B or the eventual G5 iMac. By the way things worked out I’m glad I bought my Single 1.8 G5.

  5. Hail Jobs full of grace,

Inspiration and innovation is with thee,

    Blessed out thou among CEO’s

and blessed is the fruit of thy Jonathan Ive’s.

    Holy Jobs mother of Apple

Display for us users a wonderful machine

So we can use it now, and to the hour of our deaths.

    Amen

  6. And for God’s sake, stop with the damned flickering Bush/Kerry ad, it’s as annoying as Hell.

    What flickering ad? Oh…

How many times to I have to say it? TURN OFF YOUR PLUGINS!

  7. Zippy,

Don’t mess with us man; is this for real, or are you just blowing smoke? The rotating display is intriguing, and the pic implies that it’s removable. Not sure if I’m thrilled with the shape of the base, but given the cooling problems they’ve been experiencing with the G5, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s that big. That’s assuming this is the real deal.

  8. Philip,

Yes, we know that it’s old news; MDN was referring to Time Canada’s monster screw-up in outing the iMac G4 the night before Steve introduced it at Macworld, thereby causing his brain to meltdown and depart this astral plane at approximately the velocity of light. According to rumor, the unfortunate webmaster’s ashes are buried beside Jimmy Hoffa.

  9. The iMac G5 is to blame… . The popularity of the iPod Mini is to blame…. — utter rubbish … it should be production capacity for the G5 and micro-drive.

Is it MacBidouille who showed a picture of crates in Paris? Among them is a white box with a monitor-live device printed on it. Could be the new iMac.

  10. iPod France says Apple requested to stage lifts for the event.

    1) the iMac

    2) Douse the lights; play the strings. It’s Job’s second rising — backlit … arms splayed 37 degrees, two fingers of each hand bent … mix in the choir….
