The only problem with this news is that Imac needed help a year ago, by the time Apple gets off its poor marketing butt Imac will again be outdated. so we are looking at a sept release of a 1.6 G5 Imac? Im sure it will have the worst video chip in the industry attached to it Fx5200. I dont see people standing in line for this hardware. I wonder how else they will manage to cripple Imac? lets see memory? factory only installed, no agp slot, monitor still attached? Im sure it will be handicapped as to not pull sales from powermac that in the end it will be just like the G4 model. pretty with no substance. the time is now for a consumer tower.

I wouldn't go so far to say it's indication of a headless Mac; a more conservative speculation would be it's a clue Apple intends to offer different mounting options, including an aa.

Paris or not the iMac is well overdue so it could very well be Paris.

It's late enough that it'll be available everywhere on announcement because it'll have to be available in France.

It will be aluminium and will have a bigger chassis than the current iMac because it will be headless. The adjustable arm will still be there and it'll take the new Apple displays except the 30-inch. Apple store:

The optional VESA mount lets you put a flat panel in surprising new places. So you can make your Apple display a seamless part of a museum kiosk, mount it on a wall in a office lobby or swivel changes to a client via an articulating arm.

The pizza box will lie flat on the desk for more stability and the arm will emerge from the top-center or back of the unit. Disk access and a number of ports will be from the front of the pizza box. We'll have the choice of a single 1.6 GHz or a top of the range single 2.0 GHz which will cost beaucoup d'argent.

Ive will go to town on the eye candy as this is the 20th anniv' model. Expect a prominent backlit Apple logo [very successful envy generator on the PB15] to cast a faint glow on the wireless keyboard as that can't be backlit.

Boxes will arrive on all the stores on the last week of August -- look out for them. News of this sucker will leak -- Time France? Thurrot will buy one because he can't help himself as his Windoze units will be down with the Michelle virus which is just as well as keylogger Gaston or Pierre are trolling for his WallMart card. Thurrot could be a french name after all.

A week after release Steve will announce that the 20th Anniversary Mac will have sold and taken orders for 500,000 units so you had better preorder. Cracks will appear on Thurrots face.

If le Steve did drop those hints then on peut dire que le Steve s'amuse vraiment

Disk access and a number of ports will be from the front of the pizza box. We’ll have the choice of a single 1.6 GHz or a top of the range single 2.0 GHz which will cost beaucoup d’argent.

Ive will go to town on the eye candy as this is the 20th anniv’ model. Expect a prominent backlit Apple logo [very successful envy generator on the PB15] to cast a faint glow on the wireless keyboard as that can’t be backlit.

Boxes will arrive on all the stores on the last week of August — look out for them. News of this sucker will leak — Time France? Thurrot will buy one because he can’t help himself as his Windoze units will be down with the Michelle virus which is just as well as keylogger Gaston or Pierre are trolling for his WallMart card. Thurrot could be a french name after all.

A week after release Steve will announce that the 20th Anniversary Mac will have sold and taken orders for 500,000 units so you had better preorder. Cracks will appear on Thurrots face.

If le Steve did drop those hints then on peut dire que le Steve s’amuse vraiment

There was never any chance of the iMac debuting at WWDC. That is for pro stuff not consumer. Paris sounds about right and it isn't too late for back to school. Schools aren't buying desktops anymore in case some of you haven't noticed. Laptop is the name of the game at the moment. Also, don't hold your breath for a $500 or $600 iMac. Every year since its introduction people have said the iMac must be in that price range to sell. Apple has consistently said that they are not in the low-end business. So far, that has been their mantra. It won't change anytime soon. Also, LCD displays are going up in cost again due to lack of capacity. No headless Mac, no mini tower. The new iMac will be stunning and immediately so-called Apple supporters will start complaining.

Will Tiger be released early, during the Paris Keynote, along with the new aluminum iMac (matching the G5 and the Powerbook)?

"Yosemite", besides having a Halfdome, it can also have a second subliminal reference to "Yosemite Sam", a small character that makes aloud noise, often entering a scene with his guns drawn and ready for a fight. As Steve made an unusually large number of indirect (and some not so indirect) references to Microsoft and Longhorn during this latest keynote.. and he seemed exceptionally happy to do so and even pointed out the banners at the convention hall. Perhaps, Steve is ready and Paris will be the time when Apple comes out with both guns drawn, ready for a full on attack with full multi-media advertising slamming Microsoft.
So what this says to me is that Apple has tonnes of Old Yosemite towers in surplus so he will be rebranding them as iMac G3 350 and announcing them at Paris
If you watched Phils demo he took a picture of a Tiger and then did a transition to a picture of a Lion. I think that pretty much sews it up that the next OS X after Tiger will be Lion. This makes sense anyway as the Lion is the "King of the Beasts". The question is then what will happen after Lion? There are no other big Cats to go to unless they do something like "Sabertooth" (which I kinda like by the way).
