I wouldn’t go so far to say it’s indication of a headless Mac; a more conservative speculation would be it’s a clue Apple intends to offer different mounting options, including an aa.

It’s late enough that it’ll be available everywhere on announcement because it’ll have to be available in France.

It will be aluminium and will have a bigger chassis than the current iMac because it will be headless. The adjustable arm will still be there and it’ll take the new Apple displays except the 30-inch. Apple store:

The optional VESA mount lets you put a flat panel in surprising new places. So you can make your Apple display a seamless part of a museum kiosk, mount it on a wall in a office lobby or swivel changes to a client via an articulating arm.

A week after release Steve will announce that the 20th Anniversary Mac will have sold and taken orders for 500,000 units so you had better preorder. Cracks will appear on Thurrots face.

Is “Halfdome” another reference to the iMac?
Will Tiger be released early, during the Paris Keynote, along with the new aluminum iMac (matching the G5 and the Powerbook)?

“Yosemite”, besides having a Halfdome, it can also have a second subliminal reference to “Yosemite Sam”, a small character that makes aloud noise, often entering a scene with his guns drawn and ready for a fight. As Steve made an unusually large number of indirect (and some not so indirect) references to Microsoft and Longhorn during this latest keynote.. and he seemed exceptionally happy to do so and even pointed out the banners at the convention hall. Perhaps, Steve is ready and Paris will be the time when Apple comes out with both guns drawn, ready for a full on attack with full multi-media advertising slamming Microsoft.

But, in my opinion, August 31 is too late for schools to purchase new machines..

So what this says to me is that Apple has tonnes of Old Yosemite towers in surplus so he will be rebranding them as iMac G3 350 and announcing them at Paris
